Sophomore Caitlyn Jones scattered three hits, struck out a season-high 11 batters and scored twice as DP Softball topped visiting Lake Nona, 4-2.
DP’s offense came to life in the bottom of the third when Jones led off with a base hit and senior Kalie Hernandez reached base on an error.
With Sarah Lang at the plate, Jones scored on a passed ball and Hernandez came home on an RBI single by Lang for a 2-1 lead. With the score knotted at 2-2 in the fifth, Jones got things going again with a walk and scored on an interference call at third base during Sarah Kollas’ at-bat.
With two outs, junior Kaley Eastwood doubled to right-center field to score Kollas for the final margin.
