Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts made a multi-million dollar strategic investment in its future with the acquisition of two key parcels in downtown Orlando.
The two parcels for future development located at 42. E Jackson St. and 36 E. Jackson St. in Orlando. Together, the two properties comprise a total parcel size of 43,948 square feet.
Dr. Phillips Center said the $10.39 million investment reflects the long-term vision to increase access, elevate experiences and reinforce its role as a cultural and economic anchor in the heart of Central Florida.
With more than 5.6 million visitors since opening and venues running near full capacity year-round, acquiring these parcels paves the way for future development to meet growing demand and create new opportunities for high-impact events, free programming, arts and wellness initiatives, performances and community engagement, according to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
“Our promise has always been to elevate arts and community,” said Kathy Ramsberger, president & CEO of Dr. Phillips Center. “This acquisition brings us closer to completing a vision that is already thriving, positioning us to grow our cultural and economic impact.”
Dr. Phillips Center said short-term uses for the parcels include administrative office space and guest parking while plans for future development are completed. Further details on the development plans will be shared at a later date.
The Orlando arts center features renowned venues such as the Walt Disney Theater, Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater, the acclaimed Steinmetz Hall, and Judson’s Live, as well as the DeVos Family Room, Rooftop Terrace and Seneff Arts Plaza. Additionally, the AdventHealth School of Arts offers year-round performing arts education.
