DP Swimming Sweeps Olympia

Four days after getting edged out of the champion’s circle at Spruce Creek, Women’s Swimming defeated Olympia in a head-to-head meet 162-143 . DP (3-0) won all eleven events with three swimmers capturing first place in two events: Angela Algee (50 free and 100 free), Emily Kliewer (200 free and 100 fly) and Allie Magrino (200 IM and 500 free). Cindy Cheng (100 back) and Blake Broullire (100 breast) completed the individual event sweep. In the 200 medley relay, Cindy Cheng, Angela Algee, Heather MacNeil and Allie Magrino took first place as did the 200 freestyle relay team of Allie Magrino, Blake Broullire, Emily Kliewer and Rikki Price. In the meet’s final event, the 400 free relay, DP brought home top honors once again with Cindy Cheng, Blake Broullire, Emily Kliewer and Angela Algee. 

DP Men’s Swimming (3-0) dominated the Titans in their events, capturing captured first place in nine of 11 events en route to a 172-121 victory. Sophomore Evan Staton was a double winner in the 200 IM and 100 breast while Chris Ohe (100 back), Eduardo Macias (500 free), Ian Perkins (100 free), Ian Supra (50 free) and John Meisenheimer (200 free) won individual events. The Panthers also secured victories in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay with Ian Perkins, Evan Staton, John Meisenheimer and Ian Supra. 

George Johnson rolled a season-high 688 series for Men’s Bowling and the Panthers finished with their second-best output of the season but it wasn’t enough to top Colonial. DP’s seven-game winning streak came to an end with a 2888-2706 loss to the Grenadiers.  Women’s Bowling also had a strong match but Colonial was a bit stronger as they knocked off the Panthers, 2507-2220. Taylor Gilman had a 541 series for DP (4-4). 

DP three sport star, senior Hannah Schaible announced her commitment to play Basketball for George Washington University.  Schaible, DP’s 2011-2012 Most Outstanding Female Athlete, is a standout in Volleyball, Basketball and Flag Football, and will have earned a total of 11 varsity letters come graduation. Schaible is the sixth Panther to announce a college commitment this year.
