Downtown Orlando Gets Boost from Halloween

Thousands of people dressed in masks and Halloween costumes flocked downtown Orlando to celebrate Saturday evening.

There were more than two dozen Halloween events taking place and one of the well subscribed events was the Mask Care Aid Bash by Chris Kirkpatrick Foundation at the Orlando Gibson Showroom, 25 East Central Boulevard.  All attendees had to don masks, so familiar faces were not very obvious.

Downtown bars and restaurants have reported that business was brisk throughout the evening into the early Sunday morning, in addition to which they were able to benefit from the additional hour with the turning back of clocks.

Orlando merchants are hoping that the fillip from Halloween celebrations will roll over into the Christmas holidays and the season would not be as bleak as predicted.
