OCSO: Deputy Arrested for Molesting Disabled Woman

An Orange County deputy who is accused of molesting a disabled woman when he went to her home to do a well-being check, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

D/S William Martinez - suspect

Deputy William Martinez, 56 years, was booked into the Orange County Jail and charged with lascivious molestation of a disabled person.

D/S Martinez is alleged to have inappropriately touched a disabled woman in the early morning hours of October 31, when he went to the victim’s home to conduct a well being check.

The woman told investigators that she repeatedly told Martinez to stop touching her. According to Martinez’ Arrest Affidavit, the woman also repeatedly declined his requests to help her take a shower or help her lie down. Doctors confirmed that the elderly woman was indeed molested.

According to OCSO, when the woman came forward, Martinez was suspended and reassigned to non-law enforcement duties and an investigation was launched.

Martinez was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of OCSO’s internal administrative review of the case.

Martinez was a former Apopka Police sergeant and joined the Sheriff’s Office in May 2008. He was assigned to patrol duties in Sector 1.

Martinez will be arraigned tomorrow.
