A woman was arrested on Friday, accused of child neglect, Orange County Sheriff’ deputies said.
Investigators went to the home of 27-year-old Nathalee L. Gooden, on 4859 Victory Drive, in Orlando to serve a misdemeanor warrant and were shocked to find a 4-year-old child answering the door. At is turned out, the child was at home alone.
Detectives searched the residence to determine whether the child was abandoned and got an even bigger surprise when they recovered two weapons in an unsecured bedroom, accessible to the child.
Deputies retrieved a 9 millimeter Taurus and an unloaded Commando 45 Caliber assault rifle, found under a bed.
Gooden, the child’s mother, arrived about an hour later at the home. She told deputies that she thought her daughter was at daycare, reports wftv.com
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) who also arrived at the home, spoke with other children, all elementary ages, who were able to describe the guns.
Gooden was arrested for child neglect and booked into the Orange County Jail.
