Brave deputies who heroically rescued a Florida senior from a sinking vehicle were honored with Florida’s Finest Awards.
Senator Ashley Moody recognized two St. Johns County deputies with Florida’s Finest Awards for their daring rescue of a senior. Deputy Eddy Monduy and Deputy Jeremiah Foster rushed into action to save a man who had accidentally driven his car into a retention pond.
Deputies Monduy and Foster rushed into the retention pond to save the senior from his sinking car. When the deputies arrived, water was already up to the man’s neck, and they quickly broke the car window and pull the man out of the water.
Due to the deputies’ quick-thinking, the man was safely rescued.
Senator Moody visited St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to present the deputies with their awards and thank them for their service earlier this year.
“I’m honored to recognize two deputies whose courage, quick thinking and selflessness embody what it truly means to be Florida’s Finest,” Senator Ashley Moody said. “In their heroic rescue of a senior from a sinking vehicle, there was no room for hesitation and no margin of error—but they put their safety aside to save another’s life. I’m grateful for their dedication to service.”

The Senator taking the time to recognize two of our own for their actions puts yet another exclamation point behind her standing firm for those who, without hesitation, protect and serve our communities daily.”
As Florida’s Attorney General, Senator Moody highlighted heroic law enforcement actions through her Back the Blue Award. During her tenure as Attorney General, Senator Moody gave out more than 50 Back the Blue Awards. The “Florida’s Finest” Award continues the tradition of highlighting extraordinary Floridians who take heroic actions within their communities.
