A teenager who was shot in the neck last Friday in the Pine Hills area, has been identified.
Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said, Nicholas Wilkerson, 16, was with a male friend in front of his home at 4906 Karl Lane, when a revolver in their possession accidentally went off, striking Wilkerson in the neck.
Deputies found Wilkerson lying on the ground when they arrived at the location, just after 1:00 a.m.
The unnamed friend is cooperating and providing information in connection with his and Wilkerson’s activities prior to the shooting, detectives said.
No other subjects are being sought in connection with this incident.
Deputies also said that while Wilkerson remains in hospital, all indications suggest he will recover from his injuries as he is responding to stimulus.
The investigation is ongoing and it has not been determine yet, if any charges will be filed, investigators said.
