House Democratic Leader Perry Thurston of Plantation on Wednesday announced the Democratic leadership team going into the 2013 legislative Session.
Thurston has nominated a slate of fellow Democrats who will serve in the following positions for the upcoming session, subject to a caucus vote: Rep. Mia Jones of Jacksonville as Democratic leader pro tempore; Rep. Jim Waldman of Coconut Creek as Democratic floor leader; Rep. Mark Pafford of West Palm Beach as Democratic policy chairman; Rep. Darryl Rouson of St. Petersburg as Democratic policy advisor and Rep. Alan Williams of Tallahassee as Democratic whip.
Further, Thurston urged incoming House Speaker Will Weatherford to appoint Rep. Joe Gibbons of Pembroke Park as the ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee and Rep. Janet Cruz of Tampa as the ranking member on the House Ethics and Elections Subcommittee.
