Demings Campaign Hauls In Cash, Outraises Webster

Val Demings – Democratic congressional candidate – District 10

Democratic congressional candidate Val Demings reported contributions of at least $500,000 for the quarter ending Sept. 30, the campaign said Friday in advance of the Federal Election Commission’s Oct. 15 filing deadline.

Demings, a former Orlando police chief, is facing off against Republican incumbent Dan Webster for the central Florida seat.

The race is being closely watched, with both parties expected to focus on the contest leading up to the Nov. 6 general election.

Demings has so far outraised Webster in the race, according to federal election figures compiled through July 25.

Demings has posted $1.1 million in receipts compared to $887,000 for Webster during the same period. Webster, however, was outraised two years ago too, but easily defeated then Rep. Alan Grayson.
