Dayton Cop gets Help from Woman to Subdue Man

A Dayton Police Officer got some help from a passer-by, as she helped subdue an out-of-control man by hitting him around the head.

See Video Below.

Police Officer Jonathan Seiter had stopped suspect, Otto Coleman, 64, on December 11, for a broken tail light.  Asked to step out of the car, Coleman initially refused, then did so.

A scuffle ensued between Seiter and Coleman, with the latter appearing to get the better of him.

Seiter could be heard calling for back-up on his radio, as Coleman wrestles him, pinning him to the side of the patrol car, while trying to grab the officer’s gun and taser.

Up comes a female passer-by who jumps into action and begins hitting Coleman in the head.  Between Seiter and the passer-by, they both subdue Coleman until back up arrives.

There are reports that several motorists passed by during the fight, but only the female passer-by stopped to assist Seiter.

Dayton Police said, while what the passer-by did was “commendable”, they do not encourage citizens participating in subduing suspects.
