Darden to Build World’s Largest Commercial Lobster Farm

Darden Restaurants, headquartered in Orlando, has plans to build the world’s largest commercial lobster farm in Maylasia, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The 23,000-acre lobster facility will employ 12,000 workers and produce 40 million pounds of lobsters annually, when operating at full capacity.

The lobster farm will help, in part, shield Darden from increasing seafood prices, as well as, generate a new revenue stream.

Darden Restaurants, considered the world’s largest full-service restaurant company, owns chains such as Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Capital Grille and LongHorn Steakhouse.
