Crooks Steal Swans from Lake Eola

Two swans that were stolen from Lake Eola downtown Orlando last Friday have been recovered, as police continue their investigation into the incident.

Based on interviews with the City of Orlando Parks Division, police learned that an anonymous caller had reported they witnessed two swans being stolen by two individuals between 10:00 pm on October 15 and 3:00am on October 16. According to a City of Orlando Parks Division employee, the anonymous caller said that the thieves placed the swans in a vehicle and drove away.

Police would not provide details, but the two swans were retrieved in good condition.

The Parks Division said that there is a total of 50 swans, but it’s not clear whether other swans have been stolen, as a count needs to be undertaken.  The swans are valued at $500 each.

Detectives have made no arrests in this case, as the investigation continues.
