Gov. Charlie Crist says the federal stimulus bill will bring tens of thousands of jobs to Florida and hopefully help plug holes in the state budget.
Of the estimated $10 billion Florida will receive, Crist says about $1.3 billion will go toward local and state transportation projects. Crist said 28,000 jobs are created for every $1 billion spent in that area.
At a Friday press conference, the governor called the stimulus, “a great infusion for Florida.”
The House is slated to vote on a compromise stimulus bill Friday before the bill goes to the Senate.
