Disney Steps Up, Willing to Help Hungry Youths

Walt Disney World Resort, through its Disney Helping Kids Shine Grants program, has granted $28,000 to Covenant House Florida in support of its Bright Beginnings program that provides a nurturing environment for homeless children, stimulating character development, healthy relationships, and empathy through the use of creative play.

“We’re so grateful to Walt Disney World for recognizing the needs of these children, providing them with access to a safe environment where they can explore their creativity,” said James M. Gress, executive director of Covenant House Florida.  “At Covenant House Florida, we have great programs designed to end the vicious cycle of homelessness, but these programs can only be effective with sufficient funding.”

The grant will provide children facing extreme poverty with an opportunity to experience creative activities that help build character as well as stimulate their development and strengthen the relationship between parent and child.
