Ezell Harris, who had billed himself as the man who would crack down on illegal prescription drugs once elected, was himself caught selling and trafficking in them.   Under what was called Operation E-Z, Harris was caught with prescription drugs such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, methadone and Xanax, at his business and residence.

Harris’ bond was set at $100,000.   He told an Orange County judge that he was unable to afford a lawyer and he was granted a court appointed one.

It is unclear at this time whether Harris still plans to contest the seat in District 5.   Some members of  the community were shocked to learn of Harris’ arrest.

  1. “Cui Bono”
Cui bono (“To whose benefit?”, literally “as a benefit to whom?”, is an ancient Latin adage that is used either to suggest a hidden motive or to indicate that the party responsible for something may not be who it appears at first to be.

Commonly the phrase is used to suggest that the person or people guilty of committing a crime may be found among those who have something to gain, chiefly with an eye toward an unlawful financial or political purpose.
