Special prosecutor Angela Corey will hold a news conference in Jacksonville later today during which she is expected to announce that criminal charges will be brought against George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin forty-four days ago.
While the precise nature of the charges are not yet clear, some speculate that Zimmerman could be charged with manslaughter.
Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, currently in Washington, D.C., have called for dignity and calm following Corey’s announcement, whatever that might be.
There are concerns on the part of some that Zimmerman is not in Florida and could be a flight risk. However, there are reports that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are not panicked, suggesting that they do have an idea of Zimmerman’s whereabout.
