Orange County law enforcement agencies, in a major drug sweep targeting drug dealers, traffickers and buyers, have arrested 353 persons in a one week operation. The operation which took place during the week of January 18th to 23rd was coordinated through the Orange County Coalition for a Drug Free Community Law Enforcement Committee, Orange County Government, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and local and state law enforcement agencies in Orange County.
Of the total arrests, law enforcement agencies made 155 felony narcotics; 53 misdemeanor narcotics, including possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI; 43 vice arrests; and 102 traffic arrests. Regarding drug seizures, close to 3,900 grams of cocaine, over 500 grams of heroin; 3,200 grams of cannabis and 34 grams of Methamphetamine, among other drugs and pills, were confiscated. Law enforcement agencies also seized over $112,000 in cash, 25 firearms and recovered 9 vehicles. (See details of drug sweep below).
Commenting on the success of the drug sweep, Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty stated that, “the efforts of our law enforcement locally and statewide are the pillars in reducing the supply of drugs in our community.”
The agencies participating in the drug operation were: Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando Police Department, Winter Park Police Department, MBI, US Drug Enforcement Agency, Winter Garden Police Department, Ocoee Police Department, Maitland Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol.
