An ex-teacher at the Trinity Preparatory School was arrested on Saturday, accused of traveling to meet a teenager for sex, Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies said.

49-year-old John Ferguson, of Oviedo was taken into custody, when he showed up to meet whom he thought was a 13-year-old girl, at a location in Oviedo.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating Ferguson in November when the mother of the 13-year-old girl contacted deputies after learning of inappropriate text messages between her daughter and Ferguson.

An investigator with Crimes Against Children Unit then assumed the on-line identity of the victim and continued to communicate with the Ferguson via text messages and emails. After nearly four months of communication, Ferguson requested to meet whom he believed was the 13-year-old girl on Saturday so she could spend the night at his house. Ferguson arrived at the agreed upon location in Oviedo and was taken into custody without incident.

Ferguson was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex and use of computer to lure a child. Ferguson posted a $10,100 bond early Sunday morning and has since left the facility, deputies said.
