The Coast Guard recently rescued mariners in South Florida.
A U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach boat crew rescued three mariners after their vessel began taking on water in the vicinity of Virginia Key.
All three mariners were wearing life jackets and brought to Crandon Park Marina with no injuries reported.
A Station Miami Beach rescue crew arrived on scene and located all three people aboard a partially submerged vessel.
911 dispatch operators notified Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders of a vessel in distress approximately three miles east of Government Cut.
“All three mariners were wearing life jackets, which played a critical role in keeping them safe,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Kyle Consford, a Station Miami Beach boat crew member. “We want to remind boaters to always check local weather conditions before heading out on the water. Even short trips can become dangerous if storms develop unexpectedly.”
Commercial salvage recovered the vessel.
The Coast Guard reminds all mariners to remain vigilant while out on the water and recommends all mariners to take a boating safety course. Check with the Coast Guard for boating safety courses.
