Florida Civil Rights Association President J. Willie David, III, although in Miami, congratulated Regina Hill on becoming the next Orlando City Commissioner of District 5, on Facebook.
“Regina Hill’s City Commission win is certainly a major victory for the rights restoration community,” said Florida Civil Rights Association President J. Willie David, III. “Hill’s election win represents real life hope and change to thousands of ex-felons across Florida struggling to have their voting rights restored in a broken and injustice system.”
“Hill will bring her real life experience to City Hall to fight for the people of District 5 and the City of Orlando,” David said. She will also join other ex-felons in public office, like District of Columbia City Councilman Marion Barry, Jr. who turned his life around to serve the public.”
“The Florida Civil Rights Association looks forward to working closely with Orlando City Commissioner Elect Hill when she takes office next month.”
I like Florida Civil Rights Association President J. Willie David, III but this sadly seems like self promotion. When it came to the campaign race, where was J. Willie David, III? Nothing on his personal wall would ever have suggested he was a Hill supporter. In fact he was a part of the campaign team to elect Cynthia Harris. Looking at is “persona” online, I see no mention at all to voters of D5 to even go out and vote in this election. Beware the fair-weather friend…
