City Seeks Construction Manager for Citrus Bowl Renovations

The City of Orlando has  announced the RFP for Construction Manager at Risk, for the reconstruction of the Florida Citrus Bowl, with sealed proposals to be received by March 27th.

With the foregoing in mind, key dates have been added to the city’s website (www.cityoforlando.net/elected/venues), the primary source for the latest information, documents, news, schedule and bidding related to the renovations.

The Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium will undergo reconstruction at a cost of approximately $175 million.  The project is expected to include, but may not be limited to the demolition and reconstruction of the lower and mid bowls of the stadium; approximately 65,000 seats, including 5,000 temporary seats; 4,000 club seats and approximately 10 new suites; new and enhanced concession areas, locker rooms, restrooms and associated utilities and enhanced patron accessibility.

The project is currently in the Schematic Design Phase. Potential early construction work may occur prior to and during the November 2013 – January 2014 event season. Bowl games are to be played without interruption. The demolition of lower seating bowls is to begin in January 2014, with new structure/seating bowl construction to follow and a substantial completion date of April 2015.

With today’s RFP release, sealed proposals must be received at the City’s Procurement and Contracts Division, Orlando City Hall, 4th Floor, 400 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801, by the due date of March 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm EST. Proposals received after this deadline will not be considered.

A Pre-Proposal Conference will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., in the Varsity Club Room at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The construction phase of this project is estimated with a substantial completion in April 2015. Full details are available at the City of Orlando’s venue procurement webpage.
