Days after the community groundbreaking celebration for the Dr. Phillips Center, Cirque du Soleil has announced a $250,000 gift to the project.
According to Karen Gay, US division director of global citizenship for Cirque du Soleil, “This gift supports the mutual commitment of both Cirque du Soleil and the Dr. Phillips Center to emerging artists and the youth who will be reached through the Center’s mission-driven programming.”
“We are excited to have Cirque du Soleil join us as a partner in building this Center,” said Dr. Phillips Center Board Chairman, Jim Pugh. “Their gift represents our mutual interest in the performing arts and our strong belief in how an institution like this can transform our community.”
Funds will support the collaboration and planning between the two entities to develop programs targeted to emerging artists and children without access to the performing arts.
According to Kathy Ramsberger, Dr. Phillips Center president, “This generous gift from Cirque du Soleil represents the vision and mission of this project – being rooted in the purpose of embracing the community. We are truly grateful to Cirque du Soleil and are excited about what this new partnership represents and what it will deliver. ”
