Christmas Tree to be Lit by Orlando Mayor, Central Florida Residents

The Christmas tree Downtown Orlando will once again be lit up for the holiday season by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Central Florida residents and visitors.

The tree lighting will take place tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Eola Park Amphitheatre, but festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m., featuring holiday music and singing, according to city officials. The event will feature Trinity Downtown Evangelical Lutheran Church and School’s annual Christmas special and show, The Gift. There will be a choir of nearly 100 voices conducted by Composer/Conductor Emeritus of the Walt Disney World Candlelight Procession, Derric Johnson, and Voices of Liberty soloist, Debbie Johnson. Entertainers will perform throughout the festival featuring a variety of musical groups, including traditional Christmas hand bell and Gospel choirs, soloists and a puppet show.

Festivities will also include the lighting of a menorah, an outdoor viewing of “The Grinch” starring Jim Carrey and a free sampling of holiday treats.
Admission to Holiday Lights Orlando is free.
