Allen Johnson, Chief Venues Officer for the City of Orlando, is one of the city’s highest-paid employees.




Allen Johnson oversees operations of the Orlando Venues, which consists of the KIA Center, Camping World Stadium, Mennello Museum of American Art, Harry P. Leu Gardens and the destroyed historic Tinker Field.

Per a recent West Orlando News public records request, Walter Allen Johnson makes $287,268.80 of base pay on an annualized basis.

According to the records provided by the City of Orlando, the Chief Venues Officer position:

  • Plans directs the development and administration of the City’s parks and recreational facilities, projects, programs and activities.
  • Analyzes and recommends acquisition/development requirements to meet public recreational needs.
  • Establishes and implements operating policies and procedures; advises subordinates regarding difficult work problems in the development and installation of new procedures; establishes employee training programs.
  • Participates in the analysis of City fiscal policies regarding the Families, Parks & Recreation Department; interprets data, formulates recommendations for action by City Administrators; directs preparation and administration of department budgets.
  • Serves as technical advisor and represents the City on various boards.
  • Researches current trends and issues related to leisure services profession to include funding from state and federal sources; assists in preparation of grant applications when necessary.
  • Performs related work to facilitate the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives.
