Per a recent West Orlando News public records request, Walter Allen Johnson makes $287,268.80 of base pay on an annualized basis.
According to the records provided by the City of Orlando, the Chief Venues Officer position:
- Plans directs the development and administration of the City’s parks and recreational facilities, projects, programs and activities.
- Analyzes and recommends acquisition/development requirements to meet public recreational needs.
- Establishes and implements operating policies and procedures; advises subordinates regarding difficult work problems in the development and installation of new procedures; establishes employee training programs.
- Participates in the analysis of City fiscal policies regarding the Families, Parks & Recreation Department; interprets data, formulates recommendations for action by City Administrators; directs preparation and administration of department budgets.
- Serves as technical advisor and represents the City on various boards.
- Researches current trends and issues related to leisure services profession to include funding from state and federal sources; assists in preparation of grant applications when necessary.
- Performs related work to facilitate the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives.
