A Central Florida murder-suicide involving multiple gunshots as well as a vehicle and body on fire is being investigated by local law enforcement.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the murder-suicide on the 2400 block of Drake Elm Terrace in Valrico near Tampa.
Last month at 3:49am, HCSO dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman reporting a disturbance inside her home. In the background, dispatchers could hear an argument between the woman, her estranged husband, and her boyfriend.
At 3:51am, a 12-year-old boy inside the home called 911, reporting that his father had broken in. Moments later, gunshots were heard.
Deputies arrived at 3:56am and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Outside the residence, they found a vehicle and what is believed to be the suspect on fire. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office later positively identified the deceased victim and suspect involved. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased victim has been identified as 44-year-old Alexis D. Bolivar-Dalis, and the suspect as 51-year-old Philip E. Cordova.
“This was a tragic and horrifying situation that ended in unimaginable loss,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our hearts go out to the families affected by this heinous act. No child or loved one should ever be exposed to such violence. If you or someone you know is in a dangerous situation, please reach out. Help is available.”
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
