A Central Florida man was recently arrested and charged with murder after a domestic disturbance.
Volusia Sheriff’s Detectives charged Juan Antonio Huertas Figueroa with first degree murder in connection to a shooting at a DeLand apartment complex.
Deputies responded to a 911 call from 2744 Botts Landing Road around 11:22am in reference to a domestic disturbance involving three people.
The adult male victim, identified as 42-year-old Christopher Alan Wooldridge, was pronounced deceased on scene.
The investigation revealed the suspect and his girlfriend who lived in one of the apartments together had a brief physical altercation the day prior, which was not reported the law enforcement.
The next day, the girlfriend contacted Wooldridge, her ex-boyfriend, to pick her up from the residence. According to law enforcement, when Wooldrige arrived, Huertas Figueroa confronted him and told him to leave. Huertas Figueroa confronted the victim a second time which led to the suspect shooting the victim multiple times.
Based on the finding, probable cause was determined to charge Huertas Figueroa with first degree murder. He was arrested and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.
The Volusia County Grand Jury heard the case of Juan Antonio Huertas Figueroa. The indictment was returned and Huertas Figueroa was charged with First-Degree Murder.
The case was investigated by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak is the prosecutor assigned to the case.
