Central Florida Detention Deputy Arrested for Assault and Battery

A Central Florida detention deputy was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

On August 13th at 8:36pm, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 55-year-old Cory Faircloth following an altercation between him and his neighbor outside a residence on Blueberry Lane in Brandon near Tampa.

Because of the incident, Faircloth is now facing charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of Dwelling with Assault of Battery.

“I am deeply disappointed and troubled by the actions of one of our detention deputies,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We hold all of our deputies to the highest standards of professionalism and respect for all individuals, and any deviation from these principles is unacceptable.”

Faircloth was hired as a detention deputy in 1997 and is currently on unpaid administrative leave per HCSO’s policy.

This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
