Caught on Tape, U-Tube Video Leads to Burglar Arrest (Video)

A man who was caught on video burglarizing a home on Orlando’s east-side on Monday, October 4, was arrested on Friday, after an Orange County Deputy Sheriff recognized him from the U-Tube video that the victim posted.

Deputies said that on October 4, Deputy Sheriff Wayne Scott responded to a residential burglary at 511 Tree Shore Drive in East Orlando.  During his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Scott learned that there was high quality video of the suspect.   The victim posted a video on U-Tube.

Orange county Property detectives distributed detailed information widely, based on the video which provided clear pictures of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.

On Friday, around 2:30 pm, Deputy Sheriff Scott, who was on routine patrol, spotted a Green Ford Explorer matching the description of the vehicle used in the burglary on October 4, as depicted in the video and initiated a traffic stop of the SUV Explorer at a Hess Station on Forsythe Road and East Colonial Drive.  While interviewing the driver, the deputy  recognized a passenger in the SUV as the man seen in the Tree Shore Drive burglary video.

Salvator Pernicano, driver of burglar, Gilbert Sierra, arrested and charged with drug possession

The driver and passenger of the SUV were taken to the Sheriff’s East Orange Sub Station and questioned by property detectives.

The driver, Salvatore Pernicano, 36, was arrested on drug charges.

Gilbert Sierra, 36, was arrested and charged with the October 4 burglary on Tree Shore Drive.

Both Pernicano and Sierra have long rap sheets.

Sierra has been previously charged with battery, burglary of a dwelling, dealing in stolen property, and grand theft and has a rap sheet dating back to 1996.

Pernicano has been previously charged with grand theft, petit theft, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges. His rap sheet dates back to 1999.

Detectives are continuing to look at these two suspects in an effort to determine if they are involved in other residential burglaries in the county.
