The good: It was good to be back in historic Richard V. Moore Gymnasium although it wasn’t the most auspicious of homecomings. I dug the almost standing room only atmosphere. The Fun Bunch was in their regular section heckling opposing team’s players. Fans were cheering anyone who dunked the ball.

The bad: The Cage Cats fell in their home-opener to the Ospreys of the University of North Florida even after snatching to games in hostile environments on the road against New Orleans 71-65 and Nebraska-Omaha 93-81.

Adrien Coleman was good for a double-double he finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, it wasn’t enough to keep Bethune-Cookman from succumbing 71-65 to North Florida in its home opener Tuesday.

It’s funny how things work out. The Cage Cats went into someone else’s house and stung the home team. Now they taste the sting themselves.

The Wildcats (2-5) pretty much were straight up outshot by North Florida (2-4) Try 51 percent to 36.8.

UNF’s Parker Smith made B-CU pay every time he got loose within UNF’s offense. He scorched the Cats with six three-pointers good for 22 points on 8-11 shooting to lead the UNF whose biggest lead was at 66-49.

Kevin Dukes stroked two three-pointers in the final seconds to close the margin to six. He had four three-pointers in the game and was good for 16 points. Senior Paul Scotland added 11 points, while Javoris Bryant was good for four buckets (eight points).

The Ugly: Head Coach Gravelle Craig wasn’t at all happy with his team’s play and called it what it was; a lack of effort. We keyed in on Parker and their inside game beat us. They were just tougher than us. That’s the bottom line.”
