On August 24th, 2009 at approximately 9:45 PM the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a disturbance at an east Orange County address. Deputies responded to the scene and determined the case was domestic in nature and that the suspect was a Casselberry Police Officer. The officer/suspect was identified as Eric Tomasello.
Mr. Tomasello and his spouse had gotten into a dispute over an affair that the officer was having with another woman. An argument ensued, and Tomasello apparently picked up his wife and threw her onto their granite kitchen counter, where she struck her head.
Based upon the information gathered during the investigation it was determined that probable cause existed for the arrest of Mr. Tomasello on domestic battery charges; however, he had fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies made contact with Mr. Tomasello, via phone, and advised him of the charges. Tomasello refused to meet with the officer, but agreed to turn himself to the domestic violence detectives in the morning.
The Casselberry Police Department was notified of the incident; the Watch Commander responded and took possession of Mr. Tomasello’s issued equipment, to include his vehicle, duty gear, and agency issued firearms. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office took possession of Mr. Tomasello’s personally owned AR-15 rifle for safekeeping.
Mr. Tomasello turned himself in to Orange County deputies this morning. He was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail.
