The Senate on Thursday unanimously passed a proposed constitutional amendment that would increase an exemption for tangible personal property taxes.
House members already approved the measure (HJR 1003), which means it will go on the November ballot.
Tangible personal property taxes are collected on such things as business equipment.
Under current law, an exemption applies to the first $25,000 in property.
The proposed constitutional amendment would expand the exemption to property valued between $25,000 and $50,000.
