Brooklyn songstress and independent artist advocate Meghann Wright will be performing in Orlando on Thursday, November 13th at The Backbooth as part of a November tour in support of her self-titled EP, which came out on July 29th. The EP’s singles, “Can’t Carry Water,” “Cocaine,” and “Left My Heart in Brooklyn” were premiered via top tier sites American Songwriter, Bitch Magazine, and Property of Zack. Wright has also landed taste-maker features for her music videos, premiering “Cocaine” on Crave Online and most recently releasing the “Left My Heart in Brooklyn” video on The Alternate Root.

Having played countless shows around New York, including a successful run supporting musical luminaries Jon Langford, Lisa Loeb, and Nikki Lane, Wright is poised to break out into national prime-time with her 25-show tour, which will be making stops along the East Coast and in the Midwest. She will be joined on the road by folk-rock band Green Gallows.

On her latest solo EP, she distills her extensive and eclectic personal experiences into an Americana-influenced sound reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, Sheryl Crow, and Janis Joplin. With autobiographical lyrics that reflect the fervent soul of the do-it-yourself arts community, Wright’s music takes on another dimension in concert, where her fierce fashion sense, fearless attitude, and taste for whiskey make her an indelible presence on stage.

Wright is also the founder of The City & The Heart, one of New York’s top advocacy organizations supporting independent female artists. From hosting showcases that raise money for women’s shelters to producing a locals singers compilation album with engineer Will Hensley (Regina Spektor, Coldplay), Wright proves she is not only “a smart songwriter” but also that “she’s got a point to make.” (Bitch Magazine) Her mission, in her words, is “to help women – and I intend to do my best to grow The City & The Heart into something that can truly give back to the city that made it possible.”

With such fervent support from her local community of musicians and the national press, Wright hopes to connect with new fans on her November tour and solidify her reputation as “an act to watch out for.”
