Orlando International Airport is set to host another British invasion next summer. Preliminary flight schedules show next summer will see a significant increase in the number of flights to Orlando International Airport from the United Kingdom. In fact, 50 percent of the total seats between the United Kingdom traffic and the state of Florida will be coming to Orlando International Airport.

“Travel Daily News International shows that the United Kingdom is the fourth highest spending country in the world for tourism travel, spending some $52 billion, and we are thrilled to see this predicted increase in the number of U.K. visitors to Orlando in 2014,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “This growth in service should have a very positive impact on our local economy.”

“We are looking at an increase of 25 percent in United Kingdom traffic next year and there are a number of factors for this growth, along with Central Florida remaining a very desirable destination, our airline partners have increased the number of available seats to Orlando International. British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Thomas Cook Airlines will boost capacity by approximately 150 thousand seats each way,” says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
