A St. Cloud woman who claimed self-defense, has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend, Osceola County deputies said.

Wendy Hank, 33, told investigators after they arrived at a home on Harris Road in St. Cloud early on Tuesday morning, she shot and killed her boyfriend because he had approached her with a knife. She also told investigators the two had gotten into a verbal and physical altercation.

But, investigators say, evidence gathered at the crime scene and during the autopsy, contradicted Hank’s claims of self-defense.

Hank was arrested Thursday and charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of her boyfriend. She was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim.
