The Off-Broadway production of Black Angels Over Tuskegee, will be presented by the Central Florida Urban League on February 22 & 23, in honor of Black History Month.

The riveting play tells the tale of six African American men, who became known as the “Red Tail Tuskegee Airmen,” embarking on a journey to become pilots in the United States Army Air Corps.

The play chronicles the lives of these six men as they explain their collective personal experiences and challenges with Jim Crow, and with those who questioned their intelligence, patriotism and dreams for an inclusive, fair society of brotherhood.

“The story of the courageous Tuskegee Airmen has been popularized in books, and most recently in George Lucas’ “Red Tails” film, but never before have Central Florida residents had the opportunity to experience their courage live and in person,” said CFUL CEO Allie. L. Braswell, Jr. “Audience members will not only be treated to a soul-stirring live performance, but also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the actual Tuskegee Airmen who served our country.”

Performances will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and Thursday, Feb. 23, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the newly-opened Maynard Evans High School Performing Arts Center located at 4949 Silver Star Road in Orlando.

A portion of proceeds from the play will fund scholarships for three Evans High School students. General admission is $35, and $25 for students with valid school ID. Tickets are available at http://www.cful.org/tickets-baot.
