Behaving Badly at the DEC

randolph_1-29

Riding on a dead man’s coattails, Scott Randolph has a lot to be thankful for.

Previously cash strapped and stressed, he’s always come across as the local-boy-does good. But, have his recent successes unleashed a sleeping demon, that we all know, at the end of the day, secretly lurks deep inside all of us?

For example, the recent spectacle he made of himself at the monthly DEC meeting revealed that Mr. Randolph may have some deep-seated self-esteem dysfunctions. This was apparently the case when Tax Collector Scotty tried to humiliate and embarrass one of Orange County’s more revered statesmen, Doug Head, former DEC Chair responsible for the old glory days when the DEC still mattered.

Witnesses say they’ve never seen anything like it, and wondered aloud if the Tax Collector was feeling a little tight in the chest.

What caused the hissy fit? The nerve of the African-American board member, David Rucker, bringing up Scott’s least favorite topic, the old “D” word, as in “diversity” issues.

Historically, Randolph has dismissed Rucker’s repeated requests that Orange County’s single largest Democratic voting bloc, African-Americans, have a seat at the DEC table. And bringing up a motion to remedy this, apparently got on Randolph’s last nerve. Visibly shaken, and having earlier engaged in a Bwana-correcting-Mandingo session with his repeated belittling of Black State Representative Randy Bracy, (yes, that Bracy), Scott reluctantly entertained the motion while predicting its failure.

Wary of publicly yelling at an African-American, Randolph chose to direct his wrath at a stunned Doug Head, who stood to call for equity in the process and a more reflective party.

A shocked silence descended upon the meeting hall as Scott unleashed a verbal tirade, screaming into a microphone that, “I will not be disrespected,” in an attempt to assert his demon. He ended debate immediately, scoffing at the challenge to his authority. Red in the face, Scotty ended his tantrum gasping for air.

Many members of all colors – white, black and brown – left the meeting commenting on how unbecoming the actions were for an elected official and that the whole debacle was out of line.

So much for an inclusive party.

  1. Talk about complete and total falsification; an absolute rewrite of history.

The pretend journalist “Sources” – the moron sucking on the flaccid overblown ego that is the myth of Doug Head. Could it be… Mike Cantone?! The Mike Cantone who was repeatedly seen giving the night’s biggest loud mouth, the easily manipulated Lawanna Gelzer, a full list of attack points quietly in the back corner? Hmm…

  2. Hey Getridofthetraitor, you people are hysterical. Never wanting to confront the blatant racist bullshit of this degenerate Scott Randolph and his lying crew of miscreants. Address for once the truth you lying asskisser, and deny that that your bloated bloviating leader, Scott Randolph didn’t disrespect the blacks in attendance last night. And for your information motherfucker, this aint mike or doug, its your worst nightmare, blacks and hispanics realizing that the DEC is a fucking joke and in 2014, the Rat-dolphs will get their political due. Scott Randolph is the worst thing to ever happen to Orange County Democrats. Rodent.

  3. The way the Randolph’s conducted themselves during the FDP race was completely distasteful, as “people of power and leadership” they shouldn’t of had to stoop to such a low level to advance their agenda. The local party needs unity and not more division, although I’m not the most innocent person here, I suggest they make themselves more transparent and accountable and to not manipulate situations or engage in character assassination.

  4. I was shocked to be called out for starting to express a view during debate. I have never seen a Chair grab the mike and debate someone who has the floor. The power of the Chair is in the Chair and the ability to recognize members in discussion, not in arguing with Members. Had I been allowed to continue, I would have made the following recommendation: Those who feel that the franchise has not worked for minorities (a chronic problem for the DEC) should make up a work group to identify leaders to serve as the Affirmative Action and Outreach Chairs. Both jobs are empty. it is a gesture of respect and it ought to occur.

  5. Dear Getridofthetraitor, first of all, not all African American women look alike and for the record I was sitting in the middle of the room last night. To my left was a lovely Caucasian woman and to my right was a Caucasian young man that allowed me to use his agenda. At no time did I sit near the back corner; whomever you are Getridofthetraitor, get your facts right – are you the easily manipulated one? Getridofthetraitor, anyone that knows me or has done their own research and not rely on lies or untruths knows that I am NOT A FOLLOWER and cannot be easily manipulated. However Getridofthetraitor, I am a community servant and I will always stand for the voiceless any day and will always volunteer to better my community because I actually care for my community. If taking a stand, literally, as Dr. Martin Luther King said: “You died when you refused to stand up for right. You died when you refused to stand up for truth. You died when you refused to stand up for justice.”

I stood and remained standing because Scott Randolph, Orange County DEC Chair refused to call on me when I had valid questions that could be easily addressed with simple answers. I will always stand for what is right and I will continue to be a community server and leader.

Have a blessed day Getridofthetraitor, and remember I don’t hide behind an anonymous name. I am proud of who I am, but get you better get your FACT RIGHTS!!!!

  6. Hey Susannah ‘Getridofthetraitor’ RAT-Dolph. You played yourself girl, you and that sell-out loser of a husband. Your sniveling little snot nosed crew of rats better get prepared for the next round. I hear theres some issues with how scott randolph feels about the hispanic community. Hmmm. Can you say ‘no mas’?

  7. Sorry to disappoint “Hispanics Waking up to the RAT-dolphs” but this isn’t anyone close to someone as influential as Susannah or anyone like that! Just random observant, pissed off DEC member of over a year that’s tired of the Gripe Cabal… some of whom have been drawn out in this post haha! Ready to see you all GONE!

  8. You all are disgusting pieces of garbage. That’s right: YOU, Doug Head, YOU Mike “Zit-Faced” Cantone, and YOU Jerry “calls women prostitutes” Waxman. Go soak your heads, all of you. Jackasses.

  9. Sources as ‘author’ is used with po·et·ic li·cense:

The freedom to depart from the conventional rules of language when speaking or writing in order to create an effect.

  10. “I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.”

See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.

  11. “Sources” is a sniveling, chicken shit. If you have any courage, whatsoever, you will have the BALLS to show yourself.

  12. So who do I believe?

A newspaper owner who is a pussy and hides in his own comment section using vulgarity and bullying PLUS lets liars report for him, a piece of shit named Pazy who I hear has a record for beating women, is proven to bully them locally, and also lies, an old washed-up politico named Doug Head who just can not accept he is no longer the center of attention and allow the party to grow and falsely argues about “diversity”, A repeated loser in politics named Mike Cantone who has a measly 2% vote in the mayoral elections and has shit on every person who ever helped him…

    …or…

A leader named Scott Randolph who has helped the party win us every single targeted race, has increased the absentee ballots and beat republicans for the first time, has the most diverse board (which is more diverse than Orange County), supported the right candidate for Florida FDP Chair, etc, etc, etc.

  13. Still lusting for Scott, you must have your facts mistaken. This record of “beating woman” is nothing more than a slanderous attack and has been time and time again debunked. Please request the public court records and see for yourself; A) It was a non-violent charge B) It was dropped C) She was arrested for assault and battery. I take full responsibility and ownership of the arrest of “Assault on a woman” but not under the conditions you have presented. I love how you attack someone on their character yet you provide nothing to the dialogue at hand. If you are going to make personal, nonfactual claims of bullying please provide such evidence and have the courage to “show your face.”

  14. I’m reading these hate comments ( on both sides of the dispute) and honestly I haven’t had such a good laugh in a long time. I don’t normally respond to comments like these, especially when people hide behind their anonymity. Raffa even called me out on a column I wrote that has absolutely nothing to do with this article and completely misunderstood what I wrote, if Raffa read the article at all. Amy Ritter trashed the article too, misreading and misunderstanding it, without having the courage to contact me and that’s strange because Amy and I are friends and I support her causes to the best of my ability. Haters also never bothered to read my follow up article which appeared Jan. 28. Haters don’t bother me. If these people, using their real names, want to have an intelligent discourse with me that’s fine because I’m accessible, but I won’t dignify the vitriol that they’re spewing with any kind of response. My time is too valuable.

I can’t speak for Mike and Doug, but I do know that they are as passionate about making the party better as I am. Nobody fought harder for fair redistricting in Orange County than Doug did, and it appears that there may be some headway on a lawsuit. Party leadership, other that Shayan Elahi, was non-existent during those battles. Doug has just been elected Chairman of Orange County Watch, a bi-partisan group whose only mission is to hold county government and elected officials accountable. Nobody has fought harder for reform in the way the city and county does business than Mike Cantone. His articles on Parramore are positively brilliant, yet party leadership is nowhere to be found on these subjects. I’m not blaming them-they have their priorities too.

If I have a problem with anyone in party leadership I confront them personally, not in the public arena. Here’s a personal Facebook conversation I had last evening with Scott Randolph:

“I may have differences with leadership at times but I would never stoop to sabotage, and that’s exactly what this is. As you know I do write an opinion column for WONO as well as several other National blogs. I have no agenda other than my personal iconoclastic views. Besides I would always put my name on any article I write and I honor my loyalty oath.

I found both the article on you and the article on Joe personally offensive. Criticism is one thing (and as you know I do criticize) but these examples have gone too far. Also remember that if I criticize it’s because I want you and the DEC to be better. I’ll do what I can to stop these attacks because I don’t like them either.”

    Scott Randolph

“I appreciate it Jerry–I trust you and the commitment you made that you felt the DEC meetings were off limits. And even when I’ve disagreed with you, you’ve always shown the integrity of putting your byline on your opinions. Personally, that shows conviction and honesty of opinion to me.”

    5:50pm
    Jerry Waxman

“Scott, no matter what, I value your friendship, and yes we are going to disagree.

    8:28pm
    Scott Randolph

“That’s OK. I disagree with my wife a lot too”

    8:48pm
    Jerry Waxman

“Susan and I disagree all the time and we’re married going on 44 years.”

So, Raffa, I give you the opportunity to face me as a man. Do you have the courage to do so?

  15. Friends, friends…can’t we discuss legitimate disagreements without getting so publicly nasty with each other? I don’t think this thread brings us closer to working through real problems together to ultimately elect strong Democrats who will do right by our diverse community and Florida. I think our Republican opponents are loving this.

  16. To all AMERICAN CITIZENS, and VOTERS who have read, Will read, and learn a lot, from REAING THESE Blogs:
So-Called Anonymous Mice are COWARDS and we Should REWARD any one who pulls the COVERS Off these Cowards.
When REAL People Post, we express our opinions openly and clearly.
We, who are Brave Freedom Loving Warriors, challenge all of the COWARDS to FACE UP, and OWN their PSTS!

  17. Maybe I’m a little late to the party but I will offer my two-cents anyways. Mike, you should start signing your posts, if you are gonna have an opinion then might as well own them, it doesn’t help your credibility. Yes Mike, a lot of people are laughing at you and frankly you should reflect on why. Please consider this constructive criticism as I’m not a hateful person. Frankly I think everybody should have the guts to own up to their opinions and statements. Mr. Head and Mr. Rucker are trying to get a very important issue addressed, one I think will have a profound impact on the future of our party here in Orlando, I believe it is counter-productive to dismiss it out of hand and it is seemingly making the problem worse. As a local upstart, I am concerned about incurring the wrath of what I am coming to understand as a group of bullies and gossips but I will put my faith in righteous action. Hopefully everybody can let their egos cool off and see the greater good in all of this.
