A downtown Orlando-based company that provides flight supports services, is set to expand its corporate headquarters, leading to the creation of 100 new high wage jobs.
At the Orlando Council meeting Monday, the city approved funding for BBA Aviation, the parent company of Signature Flight Support, to expand their corporate headquarters on south Orange Avenue, two blocks from City Hall.
BBA Aviation, which services the aviation industry with refuelling, ground handling and other services to aviation markets, will expand in its current building to 60,000 square feet, leading to the creation of 100 new high paying jobs, while retaining nearly 200 jobs in Downtown Orlando.
Under the agreement, High Wage/High Value Job Creation Program, the city will provide up to $150,000 over a six-year period. In addition, as an incentive, the city of Orlando would provide the local 20 percent match, up to $1,900 per job created, paying an average annual wage of $76,928 or $190,000 over six years.
BBA had considered four other states for the expansion of its corporate headquarters.
