A girl’s assistant basketball coach has been charged with two counts of having sex with a minor, Orange County deputies said Monday.
38-year-old Herbert Thomas was taken into custody last Friday, after investigators executed a search warrant at his residence and found evidence of the crime.
Deputies said, Thomas volunteered as an assistant basketball coach at Jones High School and is also connected with the Florida Girls Basketball League.
Thomas formed a relationship with one of his players, a minor, and had sex with the girl, deputies said.
Investigators are fearful there may be other victims because of Thomas’ position of authority and relationships with other minor players.
