Dawn Brancheau’s Dream Big 5K to Benefit Kids, Animals

The Dawn Brancheau Foundation’s Second Annual Dream Big 5K, a family-friendly fun run, will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 7:30 a.m. at SeaWorld Orlando. The run will be followed by multiple community service projects that positively impact organizations the Foundation supports in the Central Florida area.

“The Dream Big 5K is a scenic 3.1-mile fun run through SeaWorld,” said Debbie Frogameni, a representative of The Dawn Brancheau Foundation. “We’re inviting supporters of the Foundation’s mission to improve the lives of children in need, inspire others to follow their dreams, and promote the importance of community service to form a team and ask your family, friends, and co-workers to join you.”

During the run, Dawn’s inspirational music from her personal iPod will play throughout the park. Prizes will be awarded for the first three male, female and youth runners. In addition, a special route has been created for the Family Fun Walk. Strollers and baby joggers are welcome.

At the completion of the Dream Big 5K, Foundation volunteers will participate in community service projects at the Central Florida Children’s Home, Edgewood Children’s Ranch, Give Kids the World and Orange County Animal Services.

“We are pleased to announce that a portion of the race proceeds will also benefit these very worthwhile programs,” said Frogameni.

Recently, the Foundation provided Orange County Animal Services with a grant to build the Dawn Brancheau Shelter Play Yard at the shelter. Last month, the Foundation teamed with SeaWorld to provide 50 dog beds for the shelter’s isolation ward, which houses sick, injured, geriatric and special-needs dogs.

All run participants are invited to help “Pack the Pick-Ups” by donating food items, individually-packaged lunch snacks, toiletries, dog treats and dog toys to enhance the community service projects.

Registration and packet pick-up will be held in the lobby of the Fairfield Inn & Suites at 10815 International Drive on April, 20, 2012, from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Onsite registration on the event day begins at 6 a.m. with the run kickoff at 7:30 a.m.
