Basics on Insurance Exchanges or Market Places

doctor-with-stethoscope--x-ray-jpgStarting tomorrow, October 1, under the Affordable Care Act, people who don’t have health insurance or who purchase it on their own will be able to shop online or various at locations in their communities for coverage, which will take effect on January 1, 2014.

But the online market places, or exchanges are not for everyone – only those who don’t have insurance now or those who currently purchase their own insurance.  If you are insured through your job, receive Medicare or Medicaid, then you don’t need to shop for health insurance in the online marketplaces.

However, there are a few other things you should know about the marketplaces like, who is eligible for financial help in purchasing a healthcare plan and the types of plans that are being offered.
