Lady Wildcats escape Lady Aggies 69-64

Chasity Taylor dropped 19 to lead three triple digit scorers as B-CU snapped a three game skid and handled North Carolina A&T’s Lady Aggies Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach. After a defensive stalemate which saw the two teams exchanging jumpers early on, the Lady Cats settled in with solid play from Shakeyia Colyer was good for 17 whole Jasmine Evans with 11. Head Coach Vanessa Blair marveled at the win which was B-CU’s first against the Lady Aggies in a hot minute…try a couple seasons. “It was certainly a great win, especially in conference in our gym,” Blair said.

Cage Cats Continue Dominance Over Aggies in 72-60 win

Malik Jackson dropped a career-high 20 points, and Kevin Dukes was good for 9 points along with nine dishes as Bethune-Cookman evened its conference mark at 1-1 and beat North Carolina A&T 72-60 Saturday in Moore Gymnasium. Happy New Year Aggies.

As I recall past games against the Aggies (from the perspective of the bench), I remember how this team used to always beat us. No, they used to handle us. Much has changed since their 1995 championship. Don’t get me wrong. This is no team of slouches. They came into a volatile atmosphere

The Wildcats (6-11 overall, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) snapped a three-game losing streak. This was the Wildcats fifth consecutive victory over North Carolina A&T (7-10,0-2) and 16th straight in Daytona Beach dating back to 1995.

The Aggies led 49-43 with 13:34 remaining, but B-CU came back to take a 56-54 lead when Jackson stroked a three-pointer with 6:43 left.

Dukes proceeded to scored the first five points of a 15-1 run that the Aggies would not recover from. By the way, Jackson, A Junior from Miami was good for 14 first-half points, and was six of eight in trey attempts. We’ll speak more on him in future columns.

leading scorer Adrien Coleman was limited to eight and reduced to the role of passer/playmaker. Javoris Bryant and Ricky Johnson each were good for nine apiece.

Head Coach Gravelle Craig gave assessment of his team’s performance. “People are going to key on Adrien Coleman, but he can help us do other things. He’s a good passer; he can drive and kick out.

The Wildcats host North Carolina Central Monday at 7:30 p.m.  Collectively, twelve of 26 from three-point range is a great percentage. One of our strengths,” He noted.

The eagles of North Carolina Central University come to town Monday in an attempt to avenge Last year’s losses against the Cage Cats; B-CU swept the Eagles in the regular season series. Look for me sitting directly behind the bench ready to check in. The name of the column is I Got Next!
