An off-duty Orange County deputy who returned fire on an armed robbery suspect missed hitting the teen on Sunday night.
Sergeant Peter Marino, working off-duty at Silver Oaks Apartments on North Powers Drive, witnessed an armed robbery to a person in progress around 11:00 p.m.
The suspect, later identified as Ridge Gabriel, 17, fired on Marino who returned fire, but missed. Â Neither Marino nor Gabriel was struck.
Deputies say, Gabriel who fled the scene on foot was apprehended a short distance from the scene.
Marino is assigned to Sector III Uniform Patrol Division and has been employed with the Sheriff’s office since 2001.
As customary Marino will be resigned to administrative duties, pending an internal investigation.
