Apopka High School is one of 25 schools statewide selected to receive the 2009-2010 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA)/Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award. Apopka High earned the honor of best school overall in Class 6A. Each year the award is presented to schools whose total sports program best reflects good sportsmanship by coaches, players, and spectators.
According to Principal Bill Floyd, “The values that society instills in youth are reflected in our schools. I believe this accomplishment belongs to more than just Apopka High School-it belongs to the whole community. Parents, you should be proud of your children.”
Winning school athletics programs are selected based on criteria such as the number and type of exceptional sportsmanship reports, number and type of unsportsmanlike ejections from a game, and activities the school puts in place to promote good sportsmanship.
Apopka High School will be awarded $2,500 and a plaque.
