Money is not a problem for Alex Sink, who is set to the beat all records and become the best-funded gubernatorial candidate in many years.
Sink, Chief Financial Officer, is demonstrating that she can raised cash with some $1.6 million being collected in the quarter ended September 2009.
“This overwhelming support from thousands of Floridians sends a clear message that it’s time for a governor with a different kind of experience and a fresh approach,” said Sink. To date, the former banker has some $3.6 million in her campaign war chest, more than four times any other Democratic gubernatorial candidate has ever done up to this point in the race.
Bill McCollum, Attorney General, who is the main Republican candidate in the governor’s race, has not declared how much he has raised.
There is good news also for the Florida Democratic Party, who reported that it has raised $2.5 million in the quarter ending September 2009.
“Fueled by the grass roots army we are building, the Florida Democratic Party’s momentum to bring change to Florida keeps growing,” said Florida Democratic Party chair Karen Thurman, having realized contributions from nearly 2,000 individuals.
