AirTran Expands Flights to Caribbean

AirTran Airways on Wednesday announced the continued expansion of its burgeoning Caribbean flight schedule.

The Caribbean expansion includes daily service to Aruba and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from the low-cost carrier’s hub in Atlanta as well as new, non-stop flights from Milwaukee to Cancun, Mexico.

Seasonal service will begin to several of the airline’s most popular spring and summer destinations in the coming weeks, including new, non-stop flights from Baltimore/Washington to San Francisco.

“Expanding our flights to these popular Caribbean destinations makes reaching your favorite tropical island easier than ever,” said Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways’ vice president of marketing and sales. “If the islands aren’t your thing, AirTran Airways can take you from the Pacific Northwest to Key West and just about everywhere in between.”

Increased Service in Atlanta

AirTran Airways will connect dozens of cities to some of the world’s most popular Caribbean islands with daily service from its Atlanta hub this spring.

The following nonstop flights between Atlanta and Aruba will be available beginning March 7, 2011:

In addition to Aruba and Punta Cana, AirTran Airways is also expanding flights from Atlanta to Cancun, Mexico, to double daily on February 16, 2011, beginning flights to Bermuda on May 26, 2011, and resuming seasonal, non-stop service from Atlanta to Portland, Maine on May 4, 2011.
