In Palm Beach County, 350 garbage truck drivers have now been trained to report crime and make sure neighborhoods are safe, like an extra-professional neighborhood watch committee.
With the support and blessing of several local police departments and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Waste Management trained 200 drivers Wednesday, to be active in calling authorities when they witness crimes or suspicious activity, the Palm Beach Post reports.
“Because they’re in the neighborhoods twice a week, they know what belongs there,” Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told the Palm Beach Post. “It’s all about getting people to report things that are suspicious.”
