Lawmakers want to spend $50 million over the next five years to forge a 275-mile long biking trail that would be the longest in the state, if completed. The trail, which will link Florida’s Gulf and Atlantic coasts, has bikers all over the state salivating at the prospect.
It’s exactly what many cyclists have been waiting for– a continuous biking and walking trail stretching from one coast of Florida to the other.
“It’s the freedom of being able to go wherever you want to go on a bike. You’re not really restricted.” said James Gaetano of Trek in South Tampa, talking to Myfoxorlando.com.
On Saturday, MetroPlan Orlando board and committee members conveyed their support for the Coast-to-Coast Connector with a bike ride, after conveying their support in an official communication to Gov. Rick Scott.
