Robert Poignant’s family suffered a tragic blow when the burial marker over their loved one’s grave at the Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery was stolen – and the wound is only made deeper because the cemetery is now asking Poignant to replace the stolen marker out of his own pocket.
Robert Jones, the man charged with stealing the plates, worked for the cemetery as a groundskeeper, cfnews13.com reported.
Poignant’s father and mother were buried decades ago at Daytona Memorial Park Park cemetery.
CEO Victor Lohman said, the plates are sold to clients for more than $2,000 and he is asking family members who want those markers replaced, like Poignant, to pay for them at cost, cfnews13.com also reported.
