Cell phone robberies are increasing and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents not to walk around talking on an expensive smart phone.
Investigators said, robbers have snatched phones from 53 innocent victims so far this year. The robbers, who usually take off running after the crime, then sell the phones and pocket a couple hundred dollars in cash.
Deputies are warning residents to keep their smart phones out of sight, be aware of your surroundings and to make a copy of the serial number in case anything did go wrong.
